My Story
Hi, I'm Alex - a dog trainer based in Chesterfield and yes I have blonde hair and three mutts running the show.
Like many people who work with dogs, I always knew I wanted to do something involving them. What I didn't know was that it would take one very challenging rescue dog to show me exactly what that was.
Enter Ned.
Ned was rescued from the streets of Bulgaria and stole my heart the moment I saw him. What I thought would be a straight forward rescue story quickly became anything but. He was severely reactive towards other dogs, had a incredibly strong prey drive and his frustration often spilled over into aggression towards myself.
Life with Ned was exhausting. Walks were stressful, isolating and often ended in tears. I loved him more than anything but if I'm honest, there were times I also felt resentment towards him.
Like many owners I searched everywhere for answers. We worked with multiple trainers and given all sorts of advice, one of which was behavioural euthanasia.
Nothing truly changed until we found a trainer who challenged everything I thought I knew about dog training.
Ned went from a dog who couldn't cope with the world to a dog who could enjoy it. He could run free, explore, relax, and simply be a dog. More importantly our relationship changed too, for the first time in a long time we could both breathe.
That experience sparked an obsession with understanding dog behaviour, training and owner education. Since then I have dedicated myself to helping owners navigate the challenges that come with living alongside a difficult dog.
I know what it's like to dread walks.I know what it's like to feel judged, embarrassed or hopeless. But I also know what its's like when things start to click.
Today, I help owners build calm, reliable and enjoyable relationships with their dogs through balanced training, honest guidance and practical solutions that work in the real world.
My goal isn't perfection. It's helping you create a dog that can confidently exist in your everyday life and giving you the knowledge and skills to enjoy that journey together.
If your struggling with your dogs behaviour and wondering if things can get better, they can.
I've been where you are, and I'd love to help you get to the other side.
